You can just use vacuum pipe. 2" PVC. Works great. We use it all the time.
You do not need to use the grey stuff unless you are doing electrical wiring.
I have no idea what the retail cost is on it.
And really? $25 is too much? The grey stuff is not going to be significantly cheaper anywhere else.
