About the brand
ON was the brainchild of professional, three-time world duathlon champion and multiple Ironman winner, Olivier Bernhard. His retirement mission was to create the perfect running trainer with the idea that a cushioned landing but firm take-off would create the perfect running sensation.
It was this idea that convinced friends Caspar Coppetti and David Allemann to join him in launching the ON brand in January 2010. From small beginnings in Zürich, Switzerland they set out to change the world of running.

The CleanCloud
CleanCloud is the new high-performance foam for running shoes, reshaping carbon waste into raw material. Collaborating with a supply chain coalition in cooperation with LanzaTech and Borealis.
The process starts with LanzaTach capturing carbon emissions from industrial sources.
Then they convert emissions into liquid ethanol using a fermentation process.
The ethanol is then dehydrated turning it into ethylene gas, which is then polymerized by Borealis to create EVA pellets.
ON then uses this EVA to engineer high-performance foam cushioning for running shoes: CleanCloud.
The difference between the Cloud 5 trainer and Cloudnova trainer?
The Cloud 5 is a road running trainer that is designed for soft landings and powerful push-offs allowing you to go the extra distance. The trainer is made from 44% recycled lightweight, breathable materials making it easy to wear and easy on the environment.
This style is an everyday running trainer that has been re-engineered for an improved fit and comfort. Key design features include the speed lacing system instantly locking you in, meaning you never waste any time sorting your laces.
The Cloudnova is a new performance-led design, combining responsive comfort and urban energy that you can last in all day. Comparing the two styles, the Cloud 5 has speed laces whereas the Cloudnova has standard laces. The Cloud 5 is better in warmer conditions whereas the Cloudnova will be better in colder climates.
