I surely wish I lived where ALL of you do, so you could hands-on help me! Of course, that's just not possible. I'm just thrilled to chat about it here.

Tile Installation Challenges

There were still about 10 tiles falling off as of this morning before they arrived. I went out myself and cleaned some of the joints because I knew they planned to grout and they hadn't made the joints deep enough so the grout would cover. I'm using a bluish grout, #702, with bluish tiles (La Gemme 20.59(4) Bisazza). The joints were like chalk, and the setting compound they used may have lacked the additive that was used in other areas. I decided to go with the darker grout when I realized it would bring less attention to the areas that didn't look quite as good (wavy and crooked tilework).

Grout and Installation Issues

Bisazza told me I needed 3 containers of grout. When I got home, they had used 2 containers; I don’t see the third one anywhere around the yard. They finished the area behind the top step and a third of the side wall with that grout. Understandably, much of it is in a glob in the grass, and one of their tools is drenched in the blue epoxy grout! They had never seen it before and had no clue how to use it. I figure I'll need many more containers. That's okay, though, if they can at least get it up there. One guy is doing a really good job with it, even though it's new to him.

Uncertainty and Future Plans

This has not been fun at all. One of the guys told me they'd done glass tiles before, but I’m not sure I can believe that. They have just had nothing but trouble with it. Most of it looks fine, but when you get close and focus on certain areas, you roll your eyes. I just hope I don't have a pool that looks like a snaggletooth in a few months if the blue tiles start falling off. I also hope I don't choke on a blue tile that may fall into my beverage of choice as I'm floating around on my raft!

Tomorrow, they'll find out I have to special order more grout and it'll take over a day to get it, so probably not too much will be happening. I'll try and get some photos up for you all.

Thank you so much for your help and advice! I'll be back.
