I've always fished with steel but I want a fiberglass.
When you are fishing back to a main panel and are going right past the main lugs its a bit eye opening. Usually I duct tape a cardboard panel in there to protect myself.
I also think that the fully looped end is smoother, I've had at least one time where I got the steel end hooked on a wire that was already inside the conduit and caused a lot of problems getting it back. No chance of that with a fully looped end.
If you fish thru framing and stud cavities, I use the fluorescent "glow rods" which are thicker/more rigid and screw together in stages, I want to say its 3 sections of 5' or 6' giving you a total of 15-18' and of course more could be purchased and added.
